Check out General Petraeus having a swing with a Nintendo Wii console setup during the grand opening of a USO facility at the air base in Balad. What a great way to unwind, but check out they M16 in the corner, just in case eh?

Yet another casual golf game filled with notable game console characters. I wonder if this is a good thing for the sport. Making it more accessible perhaps? It is probably fun, but I’ll likely stick to my Tiger Woods PGA instead.
Will Sonic be the only cameo in Sega’s casual golf game? No way. Other family friendly Sega characters take weekend jobs as caddies like NiGHTS and Opa-Opa (i.e. the ship from Fantasy Zone).
The concept art hints Tails, Ulala and the Puyo Puyos will play some role in the game. Who else can Sega add as a caddy for Sega Splash Golf? Well, Sega Superstars Tennis had Alex Kidd so anyone is possible. If Sega can profit from a cute version of the Magician from the House of the Dead as paid downloadable content you can bet he will be in there. I’m looking forward to seeing odd additions like Ristar… and crossing my fingers for an eventual console port. Regardless of the influx of mascot golf games on the Wii, this is a perfect fit for Nintendo’s console.

Check out this pretty interesting video on Camelot’s We Love Golf game play mechanics. It looks like that do a great job in communicating the subtleties of the golf game such as the swing strength and ball flight path.
I’m pretty interested in purchasing this game as it looks really fun. I’m just wondering about the swing control via the Wii remote. Lets see ow it goes.

Scientists have adopted the remote controller from the Nintendo Wii games console to operate military robots, according to a new report.
The “Wiimote” control system detects the controllers’ movement in three dimensions using wireless technology. It is used to detect players’ motion on games from golf and tennis to shoot-em-ups and fighting simulators.
Now two scientists in the US have adopted the technology for real-life warfare, New Scientist reported.
David Bruemmer and Douglas Few, from the US Department of Energy centre in Idaho, have adopted a mine-clearing robot to be directed by the Wii controller.
The Packbot, used by the US military, disposes of bombs and can even carry a machine gun.
The scientists found traditional controllers took up too much of the operator’s attention.
But they found using the Wiimote was more instinctive, allowing them to concentrate on the data the robot gathered.
The scientists also plan to use the Apple iPhone for military use.
They say it could replace the laptops carried by soldiers to receive data from the robots.
Looks like they can do more than just swing a golf club?
